AI Search Optimization (AEO & GEO)

Be the source people, and AI, can discover.

Search is moving beyond lists of links. People now ask questions and compare options in AI-powered search. We make your business easier to find, understand and reference, with one connected plan for SEO, Answer Engine Optimization and Generative Engine Optimization.

The basics

Your customers are searching in more places.

A potential customer might search Google, ask ChatGPT for recommendations, compare options in Perplexity, or research a service with Microsoft Copilot. Your business needs a clear, trustworthy presence wherever that discovery happens.

AI search can summarise information from several sources and show links or citations. That makes clear, accurate, useful website content, and the ability for search systems to reach it, an important part of a modern search plan. It builds on SEO. It doesn't replace it.

The difference

SEO, AEO and GEO: one connected strategy

These labels overlap, so we sell them as one service, not three. Here's how each one shows up.

SEO

Focus

Search discovery, crawling, indexing and organic results.

What visibility can look like

A page appears in relevant search results.

AEO

Focus

Clear, direct answers to the questions people really ask.

What visibility can look like

Content is surfaced as an answer or an answer source.

GEO

Focus

Brand and content visibility in generative AI responses.

What visibility can look like

A page or brand is referenced or cited in an AI-generated answer.

SEO builds the foundation. AEO makes important information easier to understand and answer. GEO extends the plan to AI discovery and citations.

Our approach

Two ways to improve answer visibility

AEO

Answer clearly

We organise and refine your content so it answers the questions your audience asks. Clear explanations, useful headings, short answer summaries and well-supported detail help both people and search systems.

GEO

Become reference-worthy

We strengthen discoverability, factual clarity and authority so your information can be considered by generative AI search: technical access, original content, consistent brand details and credible third-party references.

Stronger AI search visibility

AEO and GEO are optimisation practices. They aren't guaranteed placements.

What we offer

A practical framework for AI search visibility

AI Search Readiness Audit

A review of your site's technical health, search visibility, content and brand information, to find what limits discovery or makes pages hard to interpret.

What's included
  • Crawlability and indexability review
  • Robots.txt, sitemap and canonical checks
  • Important-page and internal-link review
  • JavaScript-rendered content checks where relevant
  • Mobile experience and page performance review
  • Existing SEO and content baseline
  • Initial AI search visibility and citation sampling

Answer-Led Content (AEO)

Important pages reshaped around the questions customers really ask, keeping depth, accuracy and a natural reading experience.

What's included
  • Customer-question and search-intent research
  • Clear definitions and direct answer summaries
  • Descriptive headings and logical page structure
  • Step-by-step explanations, comparisons and examples where useful
  • FAQ content based on genuine customer questions
  • Topic coverage and content-gap recommendations
  • Editorial review for accuracy and clarity

Generative Search Content (GEO)

Original, useful content that shows what your business knows, and gives search systems verifiable facts about your services and expertise.

What's included
  • Topic and entity mapping
  • Service-page and supporting-content strategy
  • Original insights, first-hand experience and case-study planning
  • Clear product, service and company descriptions
  • Evidence-backed claims and source references
  • Content refresh and factual accuracy reviews

Technical Search & AI Crawler Readiness

Checks that important information can be reached and interpreted by relevant search crawlers, while respecting your content and privacy preferences.

What's included
  • Search crawler access review
  • Robots.txt and hosting or CDN firewall checks
  • XML sitemap and canonical URL checks
  • Server-rendered or crawlable primary content review
  • Semantic HTML and accessibility improvements
  • Structured data validation where relevant
  • Indexing diagnostics and change monitoring

Brand Authority & Consistency

A consistent, verifiable picture of your business across your website and the relevant third-party platforms.

What's included
  • Business profile consistency review
  • About, contact, team and service information review
  • Author and subject-matter expertise presentation
  • Relevant directory and industry profile audit
  • Digital PR and legitimate editorial reference opportunities
  • Review of public brand mentions and factual inconsistencies

We don't recommend fake reviews, paid link schemes, fabricated mentions or mass-produced profile spam.

Structured Data & Semantic Markup

Relevant structured data that describes the real entities and information on your pages, where it's supported and appropriate.

What's included
  • Organization or LocalBusiness
  • Service
  • WebPage and BreadcrumbList
  • Article or BlogPosting with accurate author details
  • Product, where applicable

Markup must match the visible page and follow each platform's guidelines. It can help systems understand a page, but it doesn't guarantee an AI citation, and there is no special AEO or GEO schema.

Visibility Monitoring & Reporting

A repeatable way to check where your brand and pages appear in supported AI search, and how that changes over time.

What's included
  • A baseline set of business-relevant questions
  • Brand-mention and source-citation sampling on selected platforms
  • Page-level citation review where platform data is available
  • Google Search Console generative AI report review
  • Bing Webmaster Tools AI Performance review, where available
  • Referral traffic and conversion analysis where measurable
  • Monthly findings, content opportunities and next actions

AI answers vary by question, place, language, model and time. Reports name the platform, date, question and method, so a one-off result is never presented as a ranking.

Why Begin to Build

Marketing strategy backed by technology

AI search visibility isn't only a content exercise. Your website has to be technically reachable, your information clear, and your brand described consistently. Because we also build websites, we can act on the audit, not just hand over a checklist.

Development + discoverability

We can work on the website itself, not only advise.

Content + structure

Useful messaging, matched with clear technical foundations.

Brand + evidence

Consistent, verifiable business information across the web.

Measurement + action

We report what can be observed, then turn it into improvements.

Tools and platforms

What we work with

We only list tools we actually set up and use.

Measurement

How we measure AI visibility

AI search measurement is still developing, so we keep three things separate: traditional search, AI visibility and business results.

Traditional search

Clicks, impressions, queries and indexed pages

Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools

Google AI features

Impressions and pages shown in generative AI features

Search Console generative AI report, where available

Bing and Copilot

Citations, cited pages and trends

Bing Webmaster Tools AI Performance, where available

Other AI answer tools

Brand mentions, cited URLs and prompt coverage

Repeatable prompt sampling, recorded with date and platform

Business results

Referral visits, enquiries and conversions

Analytics and CRM, with attribution limits noted

How we report

  • Brand mention observed in 4 of 30 tracked prompts in this month's sample.
  • The page was cited on the recorded date, on the named platform.

What we won't say

  • We rank #1 in AI search.
  • Your business is now permanently recommended by an AI tool.

Working together

Scope, cost and ownership, stated plainly.

  • We can't guarantee a mention, citation, ranking or lead volume in any AI platform. Each controls its own systems.
  • Outcomes depend on your site, content, competition and the platform. We report what we can observe, with platform, date and method.
  • We don't use fake reviews, paid link schemes or fabricated mentions.
  • Pages, content pieces, platforms, questions, reporting rhythm and any tool costs are agreed in writing before we start.

Questions

AI Search Optimization (AEO & GEO): questions we get asked

What is the difference between SEO, AEO and GEO?

SEO supports discovery in search engines. AEO makes useful information easy to understand and use in answer-style results. GEO focuses on visibility and references in generative AI answers. The three overlap, and strong SEO foundations still matter most.

Is GEO replacing SEO?

No. Search platforms still rely on crawling, indexing, quality and relevance. AEO and GEO extend how businesses think about discovery and answers. They don't remove the need for sound SEO.

Can you guarantee we'll appear in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews or Perplexity?

No. These platforms control their own retrieval, ranking and answer systems. We can improve technical access, content quality, clarity and brand evidence, then monitor what's visible. We can't guarantee a mention, citation, ranking or number of leads.

Do we need a new website for AEO and GEO?

Not necessarily. Many improvements can be made to an existing site. We review its technical condition, content and your goals first, then recommend only the changes that are justified.

Do we need an llms.txt file?

Not as a general requirement. Google's documentation says Google Search doesn't use llms.txt. Other systems may differ, but it shouldn't be sold as a ranking or citation shortcut. We assess it platform by platform.

Does FAQ schema make AI systems cite our website?

No. Structured data should accurately describe visible content and be used where it fits. It doesn't guarantee rich results, citations or answer placement. The quality of the content underneath still matters.

How long does AI search optimization take?

There is no universal timeline. Technical fixes are picked up when a search system revisits your site, while content and brand authority are ongoing work. We set a baseline and report progress over an agreed period, without promising a fixed date.

Which AI platforms do you monitor?

Scope can include Google's AI search features, ChatGPT Search, Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity. What can be measured differs by platform, so the proposal and reports name the platforms and the method used.

Is this suitable for local businesses?

Yes. An accurate name, address, phone number, hours, service areas, location pages and business profiles help customers and search systems understand a local business. Local visibility still depends on each platform's own rules.
